The Nook After I graduated college, I had a lot of free time so I started to cook, a lot. I created this site as my cooking journal and recipe box.

Why Nook & Pantry?
Since it's just Steven and I, we have no need for a "real" dining table. Instead, we have a little table in the nook that's a dining table/breakfast area/desk/food prep area. The nook is the best lit place in the house too, so the majority of my photos are taken on this little table.

The PantryI'm awfully proud of my pantry. What started out as a tiny 2 shelf bookcase has now expanded into a 5 shelf bookcase (with doors!). It holds everything from my weird Chinese ingredients like dried wood ear fungus (mm sounds so yummy doesn't it?) to Dutch cocoa powder (an ingredient everyone can agree on right?). Maybe one day we'll have a real, dare I dream, walk-in pantry?

The Recipes
The majority of recipes on this site are either my adaptations of an existing recipe, original creations, or family recipes. I will rarely post an exact copy of a source's recipe because I love to fiddle with ingredients. For example, one thing I almost always change is the sugar content in the recipes, baked goods are always too sweet for my tastes.
